Calgary Kiwanis Music Festival

Boy Scout Troop 237 has sold Christmas trees to the Johnson City community since the early 1990s, and other troops have preceded them since 1959. I originally intended to cover a few more Christmas tree lots to add to the story I'd done a week earlier, but this one lot's story and purpose piqued my interest such that it became a story in itself.

Beneath the shade of a tree, Kiwanis camper Kristal Jones, nicknamed "Big Rig Mamma," is the center of attention as she sings a version of "Wheels on the Bus" - big rig style. Campers and counselors join in, laughing and shouting with Big Rig Mamma, who also leads the hand motions for a big rig.... more
